Said to have been caught in tho act of robbing the toll slot attachment of one of tho Mountain States Telephone t Telegraph company's telephones in the .Schramm-Johnson drug store ?s'o. 1, corner cor-ner of First South and Main streets, yesterdav yes-terdav al'trrnoon, Arthur Brown, IS yeara of age, and Kobcrt Thomas, 21. wero arrested, ar-rested, taken to tho police station and bookfd on an open charge. That the young men had loitered In and out of the drug store and were tre-quentlv tre-quentlv In the corner where tho toll phones are. had been noticed by Miss lionise Olson, clerk at postorflco station No. 1. which Is near the telephones In the drug store. Miss Olsen assumed a preoccupied air and gave the impression that she was oblivious to tho presence of the young men until sne heard the Jingle of money, when she stepped around to whero she could see the table upon which the telephones stand. "I could see a pile of nickels." said Miss Olsen. "and I stepped back and told one ot tho drug clerks that I believed the slot attachments of the toll phonos wero being robbed." Walter Ostler, the rlcrk to whom Mlr-s Olson had confided her boiler, surprised tho alleged thieves and held tho-m cornered cor-nered until lho arrival of Patrolmen Egbert Eg-bert and Armstrong, who took tho captives cap-tives to headfiuartors. The loll box Is said to havo been opened by a key, taken off ono of tho pair when they were searched. Tho pile of small coins, which had been emptlud out upon the telephone table amounted to $11.80.
