Richards a bill for 5 1000 for services rendered In prosecuting tho appeal of Salt Lako City from the commissioner of tho general land orflco to the secretary of tho Interior. In-terior. Tho two attorneys wore engaged by the city commissioners last February for the purpose of urging the securing of, tho Big Cottonwood reservoir sites, embracing Lakes Mary. Phoebe, Martha, Catherine and Twin lakes. The work of the attorneys included tho preparation of briefs and services In con-, ncctlon with Senator Reed Smoot and Congressman Joseph I-Towell in procuring' tho passage of an act by congress authorizing author-izing the secretary of the Interior to grant Salt Lake City tho easements desired Congress passed tho act and It was approved ap-proved on July 20. Workman of the city engineer's and city waterworks offices are now at work In the canyon clearing the sites for the two reservoir dams which aro to bo constructed construct-ed at an estimated cost of $100,000. |
