Show M'GRAW IS SUSPENDED; HEMPSTEAD INDIGNANT By International News Service. PHILADELPHIA. July 3. Harry Hempstead, president of the Now York Giants, became highly Indignant today when he learned that his manager, John J. McGraw. had been au.spcnded for five days by President Lynch of the National Na-tional league, because of McGraw's encounter en-counter with Addlo Brennan. nltchcr of the Philadelphia club on Tuesday afternoon, after-noon, during which McGraw was knocked to the ground by the Philadelphia Philadel-phia player. President Hempstead tonight sent a message to President Lynch, asking the latter to suspend enforcement of the decision de-cision until the case can bn passed on by the league directors. The message reads: "I protest most strenuously against the decision suspending Manager McGraw because of his being an object of an attack at-tack by a Philadelphia, player, not even being given an opportunity to defend himself. "It Is a most unjust decision against Manager McGraw, and I respectfully aalc that the suspension be raised until the matter can bo laid before the board of directors of tho National league." Brennan was suspunded for five days and fined $100 by President Lynch. Secrotary John Foster of tho Giants announced tonight that unless President Lynch raised the suspension immediately the club would drop the case, as tho five days would bo up before the directors could take any action. McGraw had nothlncr to say concerning concern-ing the suspension, other than that he "would take his medicine, although he could not understand why he should be punished," |
