Show m PRICES DOWN IN IICIGD f.lMEi Heav' Receipts Favor the Bear Element; High Ocean ' Rates Cut Some Figure. CHICAGO, Sept. 12. Heavy receipts southwest, west and northwest today pressed the wheat market down. Closing prices were nervous, 3c to i8o net lower. Total primary arrivals of wheat for the day reached nearlv doublo the amount for tho corresponding time a year ago. In the southwest a large proportion of the receipts had to be carried over till tomorrow, being far In excess of the demand. The fact that port business was shut off on account of prohibitory ocean freight rates caused holders to become be-come discouraged. Higher opening figures, fig-ures, due to an advance at Liverpool, wore promptly taken advantage of. and speculative selling grew general. Weakness of corn In the end was a material factor In depressing prices. December De-cember ranged from 90c to 91jc, with last sales nOic. a drop of i'Bc compared with twentj'-four hours before. Corn closed at a decline of iZc to 2c. Oats finished ic lower. Provisions closed less expensive by 5c to 22ic. RANGE OF THE LEADING FUTURES. Wheat Opening. Illgheat- LoiveaU Cloalnc.
