Show COPPER QH IS 0PE1GH SHAFT Shipping Rock Coming From Two Tunnels at This Time. Henry Cobb recently completed a long trip across northeastern Nevada, made for the purpose of demonstrating tto the prospectors and miners of that section the utility of the "chug wagon," otherwise other-wise the auto truck, in the transportation transporta-tion of ore. There Is no more cheerful sight on the desert, Mr. Cobb says, than to see a red-shlrtcd chauffeur, recently promotod from mule-skinning, giving a cargo of ore a joy ride to the nearest shipping point. In his travels Mr. Cobb visited tho Copper Queen group of the Ely Consolidated Consoli-dated company, north of Elko, and also went through the camp of .Contact. He said; The Copper Queen was a busy place when I was there. Twenty or more men wero at work and they were opening ore in a half-dozen places. Snipping rock, was coming from two tunnels and a new shaft was being opened. In some places the oro exposed ex-posed was quite rich. The mining there Is cheap and tho proposition looks very good. Contact has one of the best surfaco showings I have seen anywhere. I met a contractor thero who Is making mak-ing good money out of tho copper ore he is able to break In cutting a raise in one of tho older properties. He agreed to send the raise up a couple of hundred feet for the mineral min-eral he could get out of it. Although he hasn't been allowed to take out anything from either side, he has sent several loads of ore to Twin Falls and cleaned up a fancy profit on it. in spite of tho long haul. |
