Show RAILROAD TO THE CAIfJF OPl Good Progress Made Despite Adverse Conditions During Past Few Weeks. NOW LAYING THE RAILS Cliff Property Being- Placed in Good Production Form at Depth, While the task of railroad building during the past few weeks in tho mountains moun-tains of the state of Utah has not boon on extremely ratifying one, the weather conditions being about as adverse as could be Imagined, the Salt Lako Routo has managed to make splendid progress with the construction of the branch line from St. "Johns to Ophlr. Grant Snydor, general manager of the Cliff company, which will he one of the stoudy shippers of ore via this branch line, has iv) turned from a visit to the district, and he states that he was agreeably surprised to soo what the railroad company has accomplished accom-plished despite the weather conditions. Tho branch is to bo nine milcB In length, and the grading has been completed com-pleted to about one mile out of Ophlr from St. Johns, there remaining several gaps 10 bo filled by bridge work. For three miles out of St. Johns rails are laid. With tho sunshine that Is promised and expected from now on. tills road will b hurried through so that the producers pro-ducers of the Ophlr section will ha.vo this advantage during the 1912 shipping sea-sou. sea-sou. At the present lime the Cliff company com-pany Is making some ore shipments, although al-though it Is not a pleasant undertaking with the roads in such bad shape. The management is not permitting roud or any other conditions to Interfere, however, how-ever, with dcvelopmont work, ond rt;-sulls rt;-sulls in several different points underground under-ground are completely satisfactory A point of especial Interest at present pres-ent is the drift on the 550-foot level In the Tony Incline. Ore Is making its appearance ap-pearance in a. very gratifying manner, proving the continuity of the resources with depth. The company has been a heavy shipper during past years, sending in a splendid line of lead ore of a very deferable de-ferable fluxing quality. |
