The danger of disease and fire is growing grow-ing overv hour. No rain of consequence has fallen In this city for weeks. With the famlno of water tho Bewer system has been abandoned, aban-doned, and this has brought about such a menace to health that stringent sanitary sani-tary regulations have been adopted. Special sanitary guards are being sworn In overy dny to patrol the city, along with squads of extra firemen, for the city would be absolutely at the mercy of the flames should a blazo start. Hundreds are leaving Charlotte, flocking flock-ing to the seashore and mountain resorts re-sorts to escape tho crisis. |
