With the. rise of the early morning wind the fire swept unhroken up tho mountain side. Hesitating at the summit, sum-mit, the blaze crept slowly down tho east pldo and at 3 o clock reached Squirrel Inn. Tho women In the hotel nnd cabins of the summer residences were sent out of danger by horseback to Uttle Boar valley. The men remained bohlnd and a determined stand was mode. Tho flames cropt through the timber until tho re?ort was ontlrely surrounded. One cabin after another caught fire but tho water supply of the camp held out and after a desperate fight against apparently overwhelming odds, tho crest of tho flro passed on, leaving every cabin standing. stand-ing.
