This Is the decision of the board taken at. a recent meeting. State Auditor S. D. Taylor stood alono when ho asked to rescind the action of the board raising the new system of actual ac-tual cash valuation for taxation. Although Al-though he voted for this at first, he naked the board to chnngo Its position and let the old system stand. The four other members of the board voted him down and tho campaign of raising to the cash valuation is on in this stato. The authority of the four members of the board who voted to Inaugurate the new plan of assessment Is found In the Idaho statutes. Secretary of State Gifford and State Treasurer Allan Al-lan voted to raise the assessment on the same grounds. State Auditor Taylor declared that the upheaval caused by Increasing to the cash valuation would force a great hardship hard-ship on the people, lie stated that, in his opinion, the plan would raise $2,000,-000 $2,000,-000 more than is necessary for the general gen-eral Interest and sinking fund. |
