Show READY TO GET BUSY. Contracts for Improvements on Harrl-man Harrl-man Lines Will Soon Be Let. Contracts for two of the many Important Impor-tant improvements which tho Haniman lines will make In the west during the next five years will likely be let within tho next week or ten days. The first of theso Is for tho double-tracking of the Southern Pacific from Ogden to Little Mountain, on (he oast shore of the Great Snlt lake,, a distance of 13.8 miles. The surveyors have practically completed their work on this section and bids will 1)0 called for within a few days. The othr important contract that will be let In the near future Is for the building of a branch line from Burley. Ida., down tho Rnft river for a. distance of about fifty milos. Tills branch will tap a rich agricultural section that Is being opened up. Thu story that tho company would at once build the line from Burley to Saline, on the Lueln cut-off. Is denied at the office of the Oregon Short Line. The company made a survey for this linn some time ago. hul It Is claimed that the business would not Justify tho building of it at the present, at least. Tho surveyors and right-of-way men for ihe dnuble-lracklng of .the Oregon Short. Line from Farmlngton to Ogden are at work and will likely be ready to cull for bids for the construction of the line within the noxt two or three weeks. The lino will run to the west of the present iine for some distance north of Farmlngton and will then turn and go to tho cast of the present, lino. The object ob-ject of the new lino Is to eliminate the grade ne.ir Clearfield, as well as to cut out some of thu curves. |
