Show MR DECIDE im MISTIME Representatives of Organized Labor Meet to Discuss Laundry Laun-dry Workers' Situation. "It is tho sentiment of organized labor that If the strike of the laundry workers is not settled within a reasonable time, a general strike of all union labor ln the city should bo ordered." This was the statement made last night by A. E. Harvey, organizer of the I-edcratlon of Labor, after federation representatives, the building trades council coun-cil and tho executive board of the allied al-lied labor organizations had held a pro-onged pro-onged session ln the Building Trades hall. Nothing but tho laundry workers' strike was discussed and the session wns executive. Mr. Harvey said that tho opinion was generally expressed that a movo was on foot in Salt Lake City to crush organized labor, and added that while no definite action was reached at this meeting tho scntlmont was strong for a general strike to force recognition of the laundry workers' union. The question will be further discussed at. a. mooting of the building trades council coun-cil tonight and ul a meeting of the Federation Fed-eration of Labor Friday night. At the mooting held yestcrdny the assessment as-sessment levied upon each member of a labor organization to aid the laundry workers was raised 15 cents per week, making 25 cents per week which each union man Is required to pay Into the fund for the strikers. |
