Show ELM US BETTER IF FIERCE BATTLE Wins ''Newspaper" Decision in Ten Rounds of Real Fighting Fight-ing With Langford. LOS ANGELES. Feb. 8. Jim Flynn not only stayed through ten rounds of tierce fighting with Sam Langford here tonight, but won the newspaper decision over the colored man. Charles Eylon, who refereed the contcsl, said after leaving the ring that Flynn had the better bet-ter of the light from start lo finish. Flynn went after Langford like a demon in the first round and had him backing up until pressed against the ropes. Langford fought his wav back lo the center of the ring, and, squaring himself, put a right on Flynn's cheek that brought blood. Flynn crouched low throughout the fight and repeatedly rushed Into clinches. In lb" second round Flynn caught Langford in the center of the ring and wrestled lilm to the floor. Langford was up Instantly, fighting byclc, but In this exchange at. close quarters, as In all the others which followed. Flynn seemed to have the best of It. In the third round Flynn opened a gash over Langford's right eye with a straight left and blood flowed down over the colored man's face and chest. The fourth, fifth and sixth rounds wero all Flynn's. It was in the ninth round that Flvnn. after receiving a hard right on the neck retaliated with a right straight from the shoulder, which landed on Langford's sore eye. Langford's long arms were going like flails, but he did not land. The rushed together furlouslv at the beginning of the tenth, but Langford was forced to break ground. The round ended without Langford having had no opportunity oppor-tunity lo land any of his famous right-hand right-hand swings.
