Show I BOND OF COOK IS FIXED AT TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS GUADALAJARA. Mew, Feb. S. Tho prosecuting attorney, in the third criminal crim-inal court tonight fixed the bond of James A. Cook, an American conductor at $2000 gold In cash or bearing the signaturo of some responsible property owner of this city. The amount of the bond is considered by Cook and his friends to bo unreasonably unreason-ably high. In view of what they claim to he the light nature- of tho charge against him. Officers of the Guadalajara division of the Order of Railway Conductors Con-ductors of America are unable lo say whether the bond can be obtained. A review of the case will be opened in tho third criminal court soon, reasons for tho Indictment against Cook advanced, evidence for the defense admitted and arguments heard by the court The judge Df the court, after hearing tho oral examination ex-amination and arguments for Cook, as well as the prosecuting attorney, may reduce the term of sentence asked for or even acquit the prisoner. ' If sentenced, Cook will be entitled to appeal to a. higher court. That he will take such action if fcenlcnced' Is certain. |
