Show NEW GARBAGE PLAN EVOLVED BY SJCOUNTY In the interests of efficiency and extension of the garbage collection col-lection service, the Salt Lake county system has been transferred trans-ferred from the health and charity chari-ty department under Commissioner Commis-sioner Roscoe Boden and is being put under the supervision of Commissioner J. B- Mullins in the roads and bridges division. George B. Catmull, superintendent superintend-ent of roads and bridges, will be directly in charge of the garbage collection service. The rapidly growing demand ior Deuer service nas necessitated necessitat-ed the ' change. Commissioners Boden and Mullins said Tuesday afternoon following a survey in Bingham. A county ordinance will be passed, providing for changes and requiring householders household-ers to provide metal garbage cans with covers which will not exceed ex-ceed 60 pounds in weight when full. As far as residents of Highland Boy, Copperton, Lark, Copper-field Copper-field are concerned, the change means that collection beginning January 1, 1941, will be by county trucks and county employees each Monday and Thursday. Shift in personnel will mean that Joseph Jo-seph Timothy will be watchman at the tunnel, Herbert R. Gust and Arthur Cook drivers of the trucks. Districts that will receive benefit bene-fit of garbage collection by the county for the first time are Draper, Crescent, West Jordan, South Jordan, Bluffdale, River-ton, River-ton, Herriman, Granger, Union, Hunter, Taylorsville and Welby. An appropriation of $10,000 in the 1941 county budget provides for the service. |
