Show TAX DECISION GOES TO COURT The Kennecott Copper corporation, corpora-tion, successor to the Utah Copper Cop-per company, instituted proceedings proceed-ings against the Utah state tax commission in the state supreme court December 26, charging the commission with unlawful and arbitrary assessments of' corporation corpora-tion franchise taxes for 1935 and 1936. The commission seeks an additional ad-ditional tax for the two years of $126,000, which the company paid under protest. If the court should uphold the commission's claim, the additional tax for the years 1935 to 1940, inclusive, would be approximately $500,000. The company asks for a review of proceedings and evidence before be-fore the commission to the end that the decision of the commission commis-sion may be set aside by the court. The court ordered the commission to certify the records in the case on or before January 25. |
