Show I UNION MAN DEAD AT I ADVANCED AGE OF 82 I D. M. Griffin, who came to Utah in 1S33. is dead at Union at the ripe old fiKo ol S2 5-enrs. Mr. Grlfiln died Monday of general debility. He. was one of the oldest subscribers of The Tribune, having taken and toad this newspaper for al- most forty years. .Mr. Griffin was born at Brighton. N Y.. July SO. 1S27. When only S years old he went to .Michigan, there learning the blacksmith trade. At Chicago. July f. 1S0. he married Miss Ellen Hogbcn, who survives him, being 51 years old. From Chicago Mr. Griffin worked his way west to Council Bluffs, Ju. From there he came to Utnh. first settling at thn lower end of State street. In the i latter part of 1SW Mr. Griffin went to j Montana, remaining thero until lSf7. when he went to Sweeiwntfr. Wyu. From there he went to lilngham In 1S0S. In 1S71I he moved to. Union, whero he lived until death. Of eight children thrfe are living, as follows: De Mo nil id Griffin of this city. Bert Griffin of Union and Emily of RIgby, Ida. The funeral will be held from tho Union ward meeting house at 11 cVdcMiff Thursday morning, with burial In the Big Cottonwood cemetery. |
