Sept. 10 After voting vot-ing to drop tho word "United" from tho official name, the Spanish War Veterans decided on Denver us the encampment city for 1910 and elected Colonel lid ward .1. Glhou of Wakefield. Mass., coinmsmder-In-chief at the closing session of their sixth annual convention here today. Mrs. Ida M. Galloway of Washington. D. C. was named president-general by the Woman's auxiliary, and Xapolcon White of Boston was elected leader of the Military Mili-tary Order of the Serpent. Chicago and Los Angeles, bidders for next year's encampment, withdrew in favor of Denver at the last minute, and Oklahoma City, the only other contestant, contest-ant, was swamped by their votes. New England delegates controlled the convention from tho outset and checked efforts of Washington o make G. A. It. veterans honorary members of the fraternity. |
