Bliss against Iho Anaconda Copper Mining company, known as the smoko case, was brought to an end today to-day when R. L. Clinton concluded the rebuttal argument for the plaintiff. The complete arguments in the case consumed con-sumed forty-ono days. Of these twenty days wero used in arguing the case before be-fore Federal Judge W. H. Hunt; and twenty-one days before Master in Chancorv Oliver T. Crane. This is said to bo the longest argument in the history his-tory of legal controversies; Iho case is also cousidered to be the great est over fought in the courts. The case was started May o, !tlUr. Puriug the trial 26,000 pages of typewritten lesli-monv lesli-monv wero taken. This amounted to O.fiOO.oOO words. Placed lino to lino the testimony would bo seventy-one, and a half miles long. The briefs, consist of .'(000 pages. The case has been fought in court practically all the time since the coiiiplaiul was tiled. A decision from Judge Hunt is not expected for at least six mouths. |
