Show Mt. Pleasant Notes Special to The Tribune. MOUNT PLEASANT. April 3 The question of this clly maintaining a high school during the coming year was submitted sub-mitted to tho A-otors and resident tax payers last evening, and resulted In a splendid A-lctory for I he proposition. A few Introductory remarks Avero mado by the chalrninn of the school board, relative rela-tive to the cost of maintaining a high 'school, and the approximate amount of taxation that would bo required to carry on this higher grade of school work. State Superintendent A. C. Nelson, who was present, made a splendid talk along this line of high school work. After his talk, the motion to establish a high school was made, and out of 19S 'otes cast, 19 1 A-oted "yes" and four A'oted "no." Out of these four, only one of the voters knew how to spell tho little word "no" correctly. Superintendent Nelson will dsit the schools tomorrow before he returns to the city. A farewell dance was given last evening even-ing for the benefit of Martin Hallstrom, who will leave In a few days for the Europenn mission Conference travel to Salt Lake Is hoaA'y from this place. Everybody that has the price has gone or Is going, and business Is at a standstill. |
