Show 1IARRIMAN IMPROVING THE SAN PEDRO HARBOR LOS ANGELES, April 4. According to announcement mado by Julius Knittschnitt, director of maintenance of tho Harriman system of railroads, the .officials of tho Southern Pacific have decided upon extensive improvements at San Pedro harbor, calculated to make it ono of tho road's most important terminals. With completion of tho Southern Pacific slip, now building, part of which will bo available for uso in about ten days, Mr. Kruttschuitt states that tho improvements outlined will bo but one-third finished. Additional docks and other improvements to aid in ship- I ping facilitios will replace the large I lumber 3ards on the Southern Pacific property :ts fast as traffic warrants the outlay. Pollowing the abandonment of Port "Los Angeles by tho Uarriman interests, in-terests, it is supposed that the company will in future concentrate as much of its traffic as possible at San Pedro. |
