Show 'SUMS ORGANIZE THE UTAH ACADEMY . Successful Meeting Held at the Packard Library: Election of Officers. Professor Ira D. Cardiff Car-diff was elected president, with the following fol-lowing officers: Dr. John A-'Widtsoc, first vice-president; Dr. S. Ii. uoodwln, second vice-president; A. O- Garrett, sec-rotary, sec-rotary, and Dr. John Sundwall. Dr. 15. D. Ball and Dr. W. C. Kbaugh. councilors. Papers bv Dr. W. C. rSbaugh and Professor Pro-fessor Marcus E. Jones on scientific subjects sub-jects were read. Two sessions of the society will be held Saturdav at th Packard library. At the afternoon session the following papers will be given: 3 "Rusts and Smuts of Salt Lake and Adjacent Counties." by Professor, A. O. Garrett; "Notes on Nesting Habits of the Genera Bombus and Osmla," by Dr. T. II. Homer: "Results of investigation of Some Parasitic Insects." by Professor E. G. Titus. At the evening xesslon papers will be read bv Dr. D. W. Hartman. Dr. John Sundwall. Dr. Ira D. Cardiff. Mr. "R. Forester anil Mr. A. F. Greaves-Walker. David Starr Jordan will not appear before be-fore the society Monday evening, as planned. A telegram cancelling the engagement en-gagement was received Friday afternoon from Dr. Jordan. No reason was given for cancelling the engagement. |
