Show LOOTED HIS BANK AND MADE QUICK GET-AWAY BELLINGHAM, Wash.. Jnu. 17. George Montford was today appointed tomp'oiary receiver for the Lxchauge State bank, of Blaine, which closed its doors January 15. Tho affairs of this bank arc alleged to be in a hopeless tangle, and the institution practically without funds. It. will bo several day's before the liabilities arc known. O. C. Math is, cashier, has disappeared and a warrant was issued this afternoon for his arrest. He is charged with forging forg-ing school bonds and hypothecating them with his own bank. It is also alleged al-leged that he looted the bank of every security held by it and hypothecated them with outside banks. Iso notes dis counted by the bank can be found in tin' vaults, neither can the proceeds received re-ceived for them. Ma this disappeared tho day before the bank suspended and is believed to be iu Canada. He was cashier of a bank in Blaine which failed two years ago J. C. Senter, president of the dc-J'unet dc-J'unet bauk, is Mathis's father in-law |
