Titles to several sev-eral hundred thousand acres of land in Western Texas held under Mexican grants aro claimed to bo affected by tho action In the case of Sullivan vs the State of TexaG which, In an opinion by Justice Brewer, was decided today by tho Supreme Court of the United States favorably to the State. This particular suit was over a tract of P5.000 acres In Hidalgo county, which It was claimed was comprised in a grant made to Pedro De La Garda. The htalo did not question tho grant, but it claimed 1 that the old surveys under which Sullivan Sulli-van made claim were not valid and hence that the- land was not properly located. Tho State courts sustained the State's contentions and the Supreme Court took tho sumu viow.
