Show LESLIE FINN MEETS DEATH IN UTAH LAKE Was Skating Across the Lake, lo Ilis Home When Ice Broke. Special to The Tribune. PROVO, Jan. S Leslie Plnn, twenty-flvo twenty-flvo years of age, whoso homo 1b in Lake View, was drowned In Utah Lake- this morning about 10:30 o'clock. It scoins that young Plnn attempted to skato from tho Provo sugar factory, where ho was employed, to his home In Lako View. He quit work at 7 this morning and soon after started across tho country by way of tho many sloughs and creeks for tho lake. After reaching tho lako ho was warned by sumo fishermen that bo was In danger; thnt the ico was too thin to hold him and he Immediately started in toward shore. Tho Ice broko and he went down. Harry Gammon, who lives nearby, saw tho young man go through the Ice and went to his rescue at once. Mr. Gammon did his best to encourage tho young man to Jiang on to the edge of tho ico until help, which was near, could arrive, but he seemed to weaken very fast and before a boat could bo launched he sank to rise no more. Tho body was recovered In forty-five minutes from the time be broko through the Ice. The wator was twclvo feet deep where the accident occurred. oc-curred. The young man leaves a widow, who Is prostrated over her husband's sudden death. |
