After being tint nearly two hour:!, tb Jury in Jude Marahall's court yesterday yester-day afternoon returned a verdict of RUllty in tho case :i(f iinnt Canton Smith, a Frenchman, who was tried on a charge of brlnglriK to this country a young girl fur immoral purposes. Smith, who took his conviction coolly, was ordered to appear for sentence Saturday morning at 10 o'clock. In the meantime ho remains re-mains In the custody of the United States Marshal. Case Wns Revolting. Most of the testimony Introduced In I he case was revolting In Its nature. It appeared that Smith had Imported a gjrl. known as Lillian Blanche, from iinaila, In order that he might profit by the woris of her uhnme. Penalty for OlTense The penalty prescribed for the offense of which Smith Stands convicted Is not less than one. nor more than live years' Imprisonment.
