Harrlman of the Southern Pacific, Pa-cific, has quietly secured concessions from the Mexican Government to construct a lino In the Western coast States of Mexico. Mex-ico. Traverses Kicli Territory. Nearly 100 miles of the new railroad line havo been graded by the Southern Pacific Pa-cific in the construction of about TOO miles of road through the richest portions of tho States of Sonora, Slnaloa and Jalisco and tho Territory of Teple, to connect with the Cananca. Rio Ynqul & Pacific In the north and the Mexican Central in the south. Bonus for Southern Pacific. The Southern Pacific Is to receive a bonus bo-nus not to exceed $15,000,000 at the rato of $12,000 at kilometer, or about $19,200 a mile. The sum of $20,000 Is paid for tho concession, and the papers are signed by J. A. Naugl, representing tho Southern Pacific, nnd Leandro Fernandez, Secretary Secre-tary of State In the Department of Communications Com-munications and Public Works of tho Mexican Government. Description of the Pvoute. The new road Is to bo built In four sections. The first will extend from somo convenient point on the Cnnnnea, Rio Yaqul & Pacific railroad, which Is controlled con-trolled by the Southern Pacific, near the city of Alamos. Sonora, southeast to tho city of Cullacan, Slnaloa. The second section will extend from Cullacan to the port of Mnzatlan, Slnaloa. The third section sec-tion extends from some convenient point on the lino between Cullacan and Mazat-lan, Mazat-lan, near the town of San Diego, to Topic, In the Territory of the same. name. The fourth section will extend from Topic to a convenient point on the Mexican Central, Cen-tral, between San Marcos and Guadalajara, Guadala-jara, the capital of Jalisco, to which city the Mexican Central extension now reaches. |
