Show PLAYBHS EAT TOO MUCH. Fans Will 3o Allowed Three Dollars to Eat on Per Day. , Tribune Special Sporting Service. PITTSBl'RG. Pa.. Jan. 26. -It Is announced an-nounced here that Ihe players of the Pittsburg team will, the coming season, be forced to eat on the European plan while on the ror.d. instead of getting (lie food in job lots as has been the custom heretofore. Harney Dreyfuss says that players eat too much when they don't seem to be paying for it themselves, and In consequence do not keep In the best condition. They get out of condition carrying car-rying too much food about Dreyfuss Is quoted as follows: "I think the players cat altogether too much at the noonday meals now. Not that there is any objection to the price, but it gets them out of condition. Now. my idea for nest year Is that the players play-ers be put up at some good European, plan hotel and allowed to feed themselves. Give them $3 per day for food, which will bo as much as most of them will want to spend and a lot more than some of them will spend. I am satisfied. When a hungry ballplayer falls down before a menu card at an American hotel and knows he can eat anything on that card, lie Is likely to oat more than he should, especially if he Is going to play ball that day. Our Idea is an experiment. If it don't bring good results we will return to the old style." |
