Show ANNUAL ATHLETIC ELECTION. "Varsity Boys Will Meet Today to Elect Members for the Track Team. A meeting of all prospective candidates of the University track team will be held today at 11:30 o'clock In the gymnasium, gym-nasium, to organize the men in squads, under the leadership of experienced members mem-bers of the varsity squad. This Is about the usual time of the year which Coach Maddock calls the track team together. In all probability, the following assignments assign-ments will be made: Bennlon. weights; Russell, polo vault: Moore, sprints; Pitt, middle and long dlstnnces. These men would then be in charge of the different squads. They. In turn, report lo Coach Maddock and Capl. Dale Pitt. Fred Bennlon received a letter from Harvey Holmes, former coach of the University, Uni-versity, but now in southern California, asking for a meet some time in the latter pari, of March. The varsity thinks the acceptance of the present offer Is entirely entire-ly out of the question, as Holmes-sonlv oifers $200 to cover all xpensos. The ofi'nr will undoubtedly be rejected. The freshman hasketball team, which seems to be feeling rather chesty over Its repent victory over the preps, has now thrown down the gauntlet to the other Masses. M. C. A. Though they have had but one week's time to organize, the members of the squad will put up a fairly good grade of baseball, and unless they unintentionally unintention-ally violate the rules, which they have not yet become thoroughly familiar with, the game should prove an Interesting ono. Besides this there will be a basketball game at the mooting Saturday night between be-tween the prep team of the University and the second Y. M. C. A. team. |
