The Woman's Auxiliary to the American Ameri-can party held a meeting yesterday at the hom of Mrs H Warren Smith. A new constitution and ly-laws was adopted and thc annual election of officers took Dlaco The following letter ws received from Mr. J. E. Ladleo: it g with sincere regret that I Inform you by thl that I am unable to attend your meeting toda;-, and I thank ou for the kind Invitation I believe thnt it Is ir.y duty to be with today, that I might a-lt a-lt your caupe, which Is our cause, at every Opportunity; but it is not pofsibl for me to attend. I know- you will today make more perfect your organization for the good of our com-men com-men cause and for the further glory of American Ameri-can womanhood. Chairman, Officers Eleoted. The officers elected for the ensuing year were as follows. President, Mrs H Warren Smith; vice-president, Mrs. J W. Farre.ll, secretary, Mrs. Sam Randolph, treasurer. Mr-. R H. Thompson Executive committee First ward, Mrs. A. H. Little; Second ward. Mrs. E Ap-plln: Ap-plln: Third ward Mrs J. H Mellln; Fourth ward, Mrs. W. H Wilkinson, Fifth ward, Mrs W. B. Short. An advisory hoard of gentlemen of the American party were also elected and a committee appointed to wait upon Mr. J E Darmer and others and Inform them of this action 01" the auxiliary. Pleasant Meeting Held. An exceedingly pleasant meeting was held, thc spirit of the members being one of harmony and enthusiasm for the cause so dear to the hearts of the American Amer-ican women of tho State. A kind and on-ccuraglng on-ccuraglng letter from the secretary of the National Mothers' congress to Mrs Smith was read Address by Senator Cannon. At the close of thc meeting the ladies were addressee! by former Senator Frank J. Cannon, who gave an Informal and earnest talk of Inspiration and courage-, expressing the hope that all the women of tho American party will work together In one organization and thus carry forward for-ward w'th greater unanimity the Issues of thc coming csunpalgn. He also took occasion occa-sion to compliment the women of the auxiliary fur the ready nd unfailing help they gave to the men of the party in tho campaign, trusting the men's organization organiza-tion te give advice und direction along political lines. Advisory Board Selected. Tho ladies elected an advisory board consisting of the following men of tho American purt, J. E Darmer, H. Warren Smith, Col. William Nelson, James Veltch Special Clause in Constitution. Thc constitution and by-laws adopted included tho following clause "The membership . of this organization shall consist of all women who are willing will-ing to subscribe to this constitution und It shall admit no wm. in who by belief or practice is disloyal to the Government of thc United States " For Sanctity of Home. The auxiliary stands for the sanctity of th homo and the laws of our country and this thought being the busls of thc erganlZ!ition it Is believed only fair by the women who have worked for this cause that members shall b; usked to subscribe sub-scribe to this clause. |
