Oct. 2-1, The reply re-ply of tho Manufacturers' association denying de-nying the request of the Textile union for a complete restoration of the 12A per cent cut In wages of July, 190!. Instead of the part Increase and part prollt-sharlng plan- proposed by the manufacturers, was mado labile today. Among other things tho letter says: "It Is Impossible to grant your request for the full rtotoratlon of tho schedule In j force prior to July, 190-1, for the reason that the margin existing between raw material and llnished product will not allow It. In making an advanco of 5 per cent, based on a margin of 7." cents, tho manufacturers were governed first of all by their ability to pay, and secondly, to conform to the spirit of un agreement made by your organization and themselves them-selves with the Governor of the Commonwealth, Common-wealth, to pay this additional sum based upon a margin which ho should ascertain by an investigation of their accounts.
