BALDWIN," commanding com-manding the Department of the Colorado, held a general review and inspection oi" the troops and their quarters at Fort JDouglas yesterday yester-day morning', which consumed the entire en-tire forenoon. The Infantrymen, commanded by Lleut.-Col. Benjamin C. Lockwood, formed on the upper parade, at, 9 a. m,t the batteries, commanded by Lleut.-Col. Lleut.-Col. Califf, forming on the lower pa-ruue pa-ruue m i u. m. This is the first tlmci that the veteran vet-eran general has 'Inspected the Twenty-ninth Infantry since Its arrival arri-val from the Philippines'. Tho Inspection Inspec-tion of the various companies of infantry in-fantry took place Immediately after the review. The usual salute of artillery ! pieces was given. After Inspecting the Twcmty-nlnth Infantry, the Twelfth and Twenty-second Twenty-second batteries passed In review of the General, following, which these excellent ex-cellent military organizations went through some difficult Held maneuvers, which were quite interesting to the I many visitors present froxm the city! I General Is Pleaded. j At 11 a. m. the General inspected the I quarters of the troops. It Is said ho will make some reco7nmendatIons about- Improving tho old barracks, which must necessarily be occupied by some of the soldiers until the completion comple-tion of the new buildings now under construction. Gen. Baldwin was very complimentary concerning the physical appearance of the men Just from the Orient and the excellent showing made during the review and inspection. He paid much attention to the structures now building and will use his influence influ-ence to make the post one of the besf, in the United States for comfort antl appearance. The General was accompanied h;re on his tour of inspection frori; Denver, by his aide-de-camp, First Lieut. Hugh A. Drum of the Twenty-seventh .infantry, .in-fantry, both Of whom are guests of t;tie post commander. Impromptu Entertainment. An impromptu entertainment vyas given at the post hnh last night in honor of Gon. Baldwin", which' was attended at-tended by th-- olllcers and ladies of the post. The Fort Douglas band furnished fur-nished the music for the hop.
