Show General Chaffee to VisitSalt Lake Head of the Araiy Will Spend a Day at Fort Douglas Soon. Special to Tho Tribune. WASHINGTON, June 13, Gen. Churfeo, chief of staff and head of the army, has arranged for a tour of Inspection of the prominent military posts of the country coun-try during July and August, He will be accompanied by Gen. C. F. Humphrey, Humph-rey, Quartermaster General, and Capt, Grote Hutchinson, Eighth cavalry, aide to Gen. Chaffee- Since the return of Gon. Chaffee from active service in the Philippines and China he has felt the necessity of getting acquainted with the country, much of which he was per- fectly familiar with as a line otilcer, but which has grown beyond his knowledge knowl-edge in a personal sense since he became be-came division commander and- later chier of tho staff. The itinerary of the party calls for about 15,000 miles of railroad travel in addition to coach transportation. Many practical questions will be solved on this trip of inspection by Gen. Chaffee, particularly mobilization at Important centers. Railroad facilities facili-ties will he looked Into, equipment will be gono over, and the general mobility of the army will be Inquired Into. Gen. Chaffee and hia party will spend one day each at Fort Douglas and Boi.se barracks and two days at Fort D. A. Russell. |
