Show UTAH'S' FRUIT EXHIBIT AT THE WORLD'SFAIR Utah's- fruit- exhibit to be made at the World's fair on Utah day, October 10, was the principal subject of consideration con-sideration at a meeting of 'the State Board of Horticulture held last evening and 'Which was attended by Thomas Judd, Mons Peterson, B. H. Bower and J. H. Parry. It Is the Intention of the board 'to gathcr-from every 'section of the State the best of -all kinds cf fruit for this special exhibit, Dixie -will-contribute about a ton of semi-tropical products, such, as figs, grapes, pomegranates, pome-granates, almonds and dried fruits. A car will be filled with. the choicest fruits from other parts of the State, including S0O boxes 'Of apples, 200 boxes of plums, 60 boxes of peaches and half a ton of grapes. Improvements at the southern Utah fruit farm were ordered by the board. Among them were the construction of a tankhouse and, tank, and the purchase, of a gasoline englneand' pump, a farm team-and wagon. The fruit outlook In most sections of the State was reported most promising. In Dixie and some of the southern counties the late spring frosts Injured a great deal of the fruit and the crop will be short In those localities. The State fruit farm at St. Georgo was lilt hard by the frost, but there will -be enough to show the quality and variety of fruit that can be produced in Utah's Dixie. |
