Show Gen. Payne Is . Suddenly Stricken Collapses at the Auditorium Annex Just Beforo the Committee Commit-tee Meots. CHICAGO. Juno 15. Postmaster-General Postmaster-General Henry C. Payne, chairman chair-man of the National Republican committee, collapsed at the Auditorium Audi-torium Annex today. Mr. Payne has not been in good health for some time. He recently took an ocean trip for thc purpose of recuperation. recu-peration. He was in his room when the attack came. His ailment apparently appar-ently was of an apoplectic character. The time was shortly beforo the hour set for the convening of the Republican Republi-can National committee, over which Mr. Payne expected to preside. Wliile Mr. Payne's condition was not such as to cause alarm, It was thought advisable, nevertheless, to obtain tho nervlces of a physician.
