Show EXCHANGE HOLDS ANIMAL BANQUET Grain, Flour and Produce Men Give an Outing- at Lagoon. THE annual banquet of tho Salt Lake Grain, Flour and Produce Exchange at Lagoon yesterday was very largely attended, and everyone thoroughly entered Into thc spirit of the occasslon and made merry until the last train for tho city was ready to leave. All the merchants closed up the wholesale shops to enable the entire forces to bo present at the big doings. The committee on lvltatlon was composed of Aug H. Vogelei', C. H. Miller and J. C. Larson, who saw that no person was overlooked who could ln anyway contribute to the success of tho day. The baseball game between the grain dealers and the Hour men was a daisy, tho grain dealers showing up in a slippery slip-pery manner whilo tho Hour men handled han-dled the ball like wet dough. Each side, however, had a crowd of rooters who yelled for tho favorites. The Hour men won, score 10 to S, with bIx Innings. The big dinner was the event of tho day, the tables being spread ln thc pavilion, pa-vilion, tho menu waa the finest tho market affords, and with tho choice wines, mado a feast fit for the klrg of uny exchange. The oratory, too was plentiful and brilliant, the speeches being be-ing given by such men as Hyrum Ben-nlon, Ben-nlon, C. A Smuithewnlte, Ed M. Miller, Mil-ler, W. M. Roylance. Aug H. Vogeler, E. E. Rich, John C. Larson, J. H. Bailey, Bail-ey, Thomas Marnane und Bert Bailey. |
