Show BAD LOOKING RUNAWAY, BUT NO ONE HURT Fred Latthcrty and his 6-year-old colt were the participants in an exciting excit-ing runaway that occurred yesterday afternoon about 3;G0. The start was made at South Temple on Main street; the horse sped down Main to First South and there turned west, the wind-up wind-up being on the sidewalk at First South street. Lattherty was about to step Into his cart -when the horse bolted; he caught by his elbows on the Beat of the cart and there he hung vainly tugging tug-ging at the reins and his feet dangllng and dragging on the pavement. Crowds of people flocked to the sidewalks on both sides of the street, expecting to see the man hurled to his death at any minute. Patrolman Brown was Among tho crowd and sizing up tho situation he chartered an express wagon and gavo pursuit. When the officer arrived ar-rived at the flniHh he found everything quiet. Lattherty was recovering a lap robe from tho other side of a fence, where it had been thrown by the impact im-pact of tho cart against a telephone pole. The horse was- hitched and standing stand-ing quietly. Neither the man nor horse was much the worse ,for the strenuous race and the cart was in no wise damaged. dam-aged. , |
