Show JOHN BULLS ATTITUDE Passive Indifference Shown by Great Britain in the Balkan Crisis London May 1 iTh British Governments Gov-ernments attitude in the Balkan crisis may be summed up as being one of passive Indifference It Is pointed out at the Foreign oflice here that Great Britain is not bound by any treaties to Interfere in behalf of Bulgaria Bul-garia Although she was chicfly responsible re-sponsible for bringing Bulgaria Into existence Great Britain never undertook under-took the preservation of Bulgarias interests In-terests though she is pledged to maintain J pire main-tain the Integrity of the Ottoman em Tho British Foreign ofllce also understands un-derstands that neither Russia nor Austria intends to interfere unless some unseen Issue becomes involved Thus Turkey appears to have a clear hand but the British Foreign office is Inclined to the belief that Turkey will not go so far as to commence hostilities hostili-ties against Bulgaria but will content herself with threats and perhaps by other means than force secure reparation repara-tion for her alleged wrongs |
