Show ST MARYS GIRLS Fine Entertainment Given in Assem blyBoom of Acadomy Last Night What physical culture has accom plished at St Marys academy was demonstrated last evening to a large and enthusiastic audience which filled the assembly room of the college It was the first public appearance of the girls who have been Indulging In athletics ath-letics for the last two terms of the institution In-stitution under the direction of Mrs May L Landrum and the pupils show great progress In all the branches The pro ralmne opened vslth the college drill This was followed l by accom Forgotten by Miss Nellie Mahan and then came the bar bell exercises Miss Mona McHugh gave some Irish airs which preceded the Indian club exercises and the flower li p polonaise polo-naise Mies Maud Nlsslcr Bang very well the dllllcult cavatlna Ah Robert Rob-ert by Meyerbeer and then eight girls gave the dumb bell drill Two little lit-tle tots played a medley oC AmerIcan airs upon violins They were All no St Jean and Marion Hooper The last number on the programme was the grand salute and phase oC arms by St Marys fencing girls Cecelia Gottsteln Helen SontBchi Lizzie Pope Mabel Nlssler Jennie Dodds Ethel Frisby and Edna Egan They were particularly particu-larly graceful and proved themselves adepts at the dlfllcult art and won around a-round of applause at the end The various exercises were given with skill and precision and each was well received re-ceived Mrs Bell played the accompaniments accom-paniments throughout which aided the girls In their movements It was a complete success throughout |
