| Show I CONGREGATIONAL SCHOOLS I Society Has Six in Utah According to a Report Presented the Congregational Con-gregational Society Boston Mass June 13In presenting present-ing the report of the Congregational Educational society to the Congregational I Congrega-tional council here Rev Edward STead S-Tead Its secretary said The work In Utah and New Mexico has been pressed as vigorously as tho resources of the society have allowed Tho society has six schools In Utah situated In Salt Lake City Provo Lehl Bountiful Heber and Coalvllle All of these places excepting Salt Lake City are strong Mormon elders Under tho fire of hostile criticism a spirit of retaliation has been aroused among the Mormons who arc sending large numbers of missionaries through New England and the Middle States Mormon headquarters have been estab lished In Boston and a complete sys item of missionary endeavor has been organized Americanism and MormonIsm Mormon-Ism cannot dwell together To let It alone would please Mormon fellowcltl citizens beyond expression but to let It alone would be a blind suicidal and un Christian course The six schools In New Mexico fight a different enemy In name but bearing many of the marks of the foe of Utah One new point has been opened Sebo yctta fifteen miles distant from tho nearest railroad station a place where the people some years ago were so bigoted that no Protestant was allowed to enter In this little village there are ninetyfive children of school age and seventyithrec of them are In our school |
