Show J Je LEARY TAKEN INFormally IN-Formally Admitted to PellowsMp i Democratic Club Washingtons Birthday BalL The Democratic club at lie meeting lost night In the ofllco of George D Alder adopted James C Leary and anew new set of bylaws and fixed the date for Its Washingtons birthday ball 3t has long been suspected that Mr Leary was a Democrat and when the votes were counted after the municipal election It became almost a certainty but not until last night did he finally pass over to the great minority The oath of allegiance was administered by Chairman J H MOle and about twenty twen-ty members of the club were present to offer their condolences i The work of revising and adopting the bylaws was taken up very enthusiastically enthusias-tically I Is understood that this Is to become a regular order of business at the club meetings as the members realize re-alize that they may never get any other opportunity to act as lawmakers One of the new rules la l that no more than three members will be permitted to talk at one time and that any one who takes the floor must settle with satle wih the landlord when the bill Is presented February 27th Is the date selected for the Washingtons birthday ball probe bly at Ghrlstensens hal I was pointed point-ed out that Washington was born on the 22nd of the month but the hal could not be procured for that night and anyway Washington Is not In a position to make any appointments Judges King and Powers were among the distinguished members of the club present but no speaking was Indulged In 3 |
