Show A True Story ofa Ducks August Excursion By Jean Hammcl Age 13 One day in August a little girl and I boy went < to the country to visit their grandpa and grandma The very day they arrived twentyfive fluffy yellow ducklings came out of their shells They were all glv cn to one little reddish brown hen She was very happy with her brood of downy ducklings Tills happy brood grew every day and every day they got whiter andS and-S I ronger The children carried the ducks around from the day they were hatched to the day they wore grownup ducks One day the little boys mamma was making a new drew The dress was blue with a white stripe In It The little lit-tle t boy found a plJce he thought looked like a bib He cut a buttonhole He walked along with his head high In the air When they got in the yard they were happier than ever First they went to the barn They said Quack quack meaning good morning to the horse and the hens Then they went to the chlckenhpuse wher the little reddish brown hen was on her nest trying to hatch some babies of her OWII kind Next they went to the woodshed and tho chickencoops btlll In single lie Every place they went they said Quack Quack as much as to say Good morning are you as glad to see us as we are to see you After that the man came with the big wagon and put the ducks In a big box and the children never saw them again I |
