resolved re-solved to recommend to the City Council Coun-cil to rant the franchise but tho demands de-mands of the railroad companies in re yard to the closing oC South Temple r Btrcet between Third jjard to closing Third South street at tho point where the depot will stand I but It was required that the companies build a footbridge over the depot building build-ing It was required that the companies I compa-nies accept the franchise within thirty I days commence work within 120 days I after the granting of the franchise and complete the building within two years and that the building cost not less than I v20000 The companies were granted i all the extra trackage privileges they asked for The City Attorney was Instructed I In-structed to draw up a franchise In accordance I ac-cordance with the conditions agreed upon by the committee and to report the same at the meeting of the Council a week from tonlgh OBJECTORS AGAIN HEARD Mrs Susan Butterworth John Reid and Attorney Jp H Moyle were present at the beginning of the session representing repre-senting the proiostauts while those In favor of the depot were represented by Attorney P L Williams Judge Howat George M Scott D C Adams S W Kcclca nnd J M Rlcketts Mrs Butterworth addressed the committee com-mittee urging that the station should be located a block and a half west oC the proposed site She said she owned Those on the sldo of the railroad companies had no further statements to make The visitors withdrew and committee got down to business THREE FRANCHISES The application or the railroads was Segregated by them Into three separate y franchises one for the building of the depot one to the Short Line closing South Temple street nnd granting tho company extra trackage and one to the Rio Grande Western closing Third South street and granting them additional addi-tional trackage UNANIMOUS ON DEPOT In regard to the first the following conditions were unanimously agreed upon That all railroads coming to Salt Lake shall have equal privileges c to the depot on paying their proportion of the expenses new tracks shall not extend west of the center line OC Fourth West street between Second and Fourth South streets the station Mil not cost less l than a quarter of a million work to bo begun within 120 days from the grunting of the franchise c fran-chise and to be completed within two years the
