Show DEDUCTIONS FOR OVERTIME Board of Public Works Decides inS in-S Favor of Two Contractors A meeting of tWo Board of Public Works was held yesterday afternoon at Wells Fargo Cos bank for the purpose of considering two deductions I for overtime made by l the City Engl Aecr on estimates for contracts One was a deduction of 100 on a 500 contract con-tract of Andrew Grundfor who did not complete the work on a valve house Grundfor by letter explained to the board that the work was all finished except the painting whlcn was prevented by rain Grundfor had contracts for building two more valve houses but they were located in the reservation and the work was stopped by order of the officers of the fort who demanded that permission be first secured I se-cured from the Secretary of War It I is understood that this permission has been asked for but In view of the delay de-lay to the contractor the board will recommend the Council that the deduction de-duction for overtime on time other contract con-tract bo not made The second deduction was of 150 from the final estimate of 317 on limo contract of Kcifer Rush for grading grad-ing Thirteenth East street They were fifteen days behind time In completing the contract but it developed that they had applied for and been granted a fifteen days extension of time by the Board of Public Works The secretary had failed to notify the City Engineer of the extension |
