| Show STATE MILLERS TO MEET t Gathering Tomorrow May Result inFormation in-Formation of Combine I I The Salt Lake millers met yesterday afternoon and with them were several representatives of mills outside of the city An Informal discussion was all that was had Several of the millers wanted to again advance the price of flour but this proposition was voted I down pending the meeting of ihe State Millers association which occurs tomorrow to-morrow when action of some importance Import-ance Is expected There has been a general response to the Invitations bent all over the Stale for millers lo be present at the meeting tomorrow and Indications for a good attendance are I Jn evidence It Is believed that the meeting will either result In the forma lion oC a combine or a further demoral isation of prices Outside millers are very anxious that some sort of a central cen-tral depot should be established where they could deliver their Hour get their pay for it and turn their attention 10 something else These argue that the S establishment of such a concern would rid them of much responsibility that now attaches to their business ansi make them absolutely sure of getting their money when their product was sold At an informal meeting oC several sev-eral of the millers yesterday a t discussion dis-cussion arose concerning the reliability of a certain storekeeper for credit One miller said the man might be all right but as a matter of fact he owed him 150 for flour and he was unable lo collect A poll of those present was taken and it WTS shown that the man first spoken of was owing over S1200 for flour to the various mills A men tal Inventory of the stock carried by the shopkeeper was made by the cred itors present and all agreed lhat he did not have enough goods and fixtures in rils store lo pay for time flour which ho had bought and sold but for which he had not paid The purpose of the trust If you are pleased to caIl It that will not be for the purpose of raising the price nf flour to a high fiErurcard a dealer but merely lo protect ourselves from such men as these If we can cut off all our bad debts we can soil flour nt the present prices and still make a profit Business Notes Superintendent Webber of Ihe 7 C jr L says he looks for an Increased 1 business from now on The last two months have been dull as they always are he said but there Is every reason rea-son to believe thai trade will pick up rapidly with tile actual beginning of spring There Is every evidence of prosperity among the farmers and this of course means that here I will be money coming Into this city Coun try collections have been very good everything being taken Into considera tion and the outlook for good crops sccns to be very bright Commercial stocks have shown but little change during the week Brokers report that there has been < good demand de-mand for rcvcial of them but the holders hold-ers scorn lo think they have a good thing and as a result do not care to part with them except nt a big prlco which the average speculator docs not care to pay Wheat is now quoted nt 66 cents car load lots delivered In this city and the prospects arc for an advance at nn early dale 5 |
