I THE OELLYACHERS Judging by our Ifuntlngton Emery county correspond tho Democracy I in that region arc making a campaign I chiefly on the alleged shortcomings of The Salt Lake Tribune That is all j right except that Tho Tribune does not happen to bo a candidate Than tho speaker do this journal too much I honor They make The Tribune strong enough to control the whole Jlouse of Representatives which is not quite a square deal Wo never could have had j I Roberts excluded If he had not greatly I assisted us Indeed he did the whole I work When ho claimed his right to a i seat and urged the Justice of not Inter j I ferlng wfth a gentleman for defying a law on the ground that he had always been that way the proposition was so unique In a lawmaking body that it was natural for that body to act on the impulse of the moment and fire him out But no matter that does not concern con-cern fills campaign except to remind people that The Tribune besought thu people two years ago not to elect Mr J Roberta lest it culminate in humiliation humilia-tion to him and his friends and loss to the State They would not accept the advice then and Instead of admitting that they were wrong thcy scorn disposed i dis-posed to charge nil the wrong on The I I Tribune and to repeat their blunder j I so far as possible by attaching to their candidate an endorsement of the man I Unit Congress summarily disposed of and a censure of Congress for its act That may relieve their feelings but It is not good political sense nevertheless neverthe-less When will a certain crowd in Utah drop on to the fact that they ought to be Americans and ought to accept American methods
