| Show MOTHERS NBETINGS A mothers meeting was held at tho Franklin school Friday at 3 p I In at which a goodly number of those interested inter-ested in the piano fund W MP present Mrs Thompson who presided reported that 50 had been paid In before the last meeting and Mrs Fred Price reported an additional 40 It was decided to rclvc an entertainment for the benefit of this fund Principal Halleck spoke I of the benefits derived from a piano In the school and gave many practical suggestions He said that unity of action would accomplish all they desired de-sired The following committee on arrangements and programme were appointed ap-pointed Mrs James Thompson MrM Fred Price Mrs Bancroft Mrs1 M Grlggs Mrs Thomas Evans Mrs Russell Rus-sell Mrs Foulgei Mrs Fisher Mrs Banker and W S Wallace Mrs Thompson believed that a mothers meeting once a month would encourage more parents to ViSit the school This Idea met with general favor and it was accordingly decided to hold a meeting each month during the remainder of the year o o o Miss Gtttlngn sixthgrade teacher at the Emerson held a very Interesting mothers meeting on Friday afternoon The early part of the afternoon was devoted de-voted to the regular school work and later a pretty and Interesting literary programme was given Work of the children adorned tho walls and boards of the room At the close of the session a pleasant surprise awaited those present pres-ent in the form of a dainty little lunch prepared and served by the girls of the class In this last thb teachers of the building wero invited to participate I a An Important mothers meeting was held In room 8 Bryant Friday afternoon after-noon at which topics were discussed which are of Hal Interest to every mother and child About thirty mothers moth-ers were present and it Is hoped that at the next meeting which will be held within the month every mother in the ward will be present as it was the general verdict of those who attended the meeting Friday that no mother could afford to miss It |
