Show SUGAR WARD OUTING People of the Suburb Spenda Happy Day at Lagoon The Sugar ward excursion to the Lagoon La-goon yesterday was a very successful success-ful ovcnt socially the number who avallcd themselves of the opportunity to enjoy themselves being unusually large The event was in charge of the Sugar amusement committee and the ward Sundayschool of which E J Wood is the superintendent After the luncheon hour had beenpleasantly spent the programme of sports commenced com-menced One of the unique races was run by a man free and unhandlcapped against another who was burdened with a man of his own weight on his shoulders E J Wood carried the man and covered fifty yards in less time than tho other contestant ran 100 yards thus winning the prize The prize for the needle and thread race for women was won by Mrs M Cam while JJlss Lizzie Hood won the young ladles race Other winners were Leo Chase Lillian Stevenson Clinton Alston The married and single men played a game of ball In which the benedicts won by the decided score of 19 to 11 During the evening there was boat log anti dancing The attendance vas about 800 William McCune and his assistants who form the Sugar ntmiBcment committee com-mittee worked energetically and made the affair very successful |
