Show DEMO CHATS AT CAIDEBS Scandinavian Member of Party Role Picnic at the Resort An outing yesterday afternoon at Calders park was given under the auspices au-spices of the Scandinavian Democratic society A programme wasto progamme was have boon glvcn at 3 oclock but politics did not provo n drawing card and not until after 7 oclock was the crowd called to order The musical part of the pro gramme consisted of n piano solo by 1 Miss Eattolfson two numbers by the Harmonlcn choir a vocal Bolo Asleep In the Deep by 1S Ilasicl Jones with Miss Annie Fernstrom as accompanist accom-panist a comic song by Miss Emma I Jacobson a piano solo by Miss Myra Hanson and a sortg by Miss Haxcl Jacobson Among the other entertain ing features were a comic recitation by W W Nelson and a recitation by lit tie fiveyearold JDlla Olsen both of which r whlhwcrc well received p S Fernstrom presided and gave a Democratic tall Judge Nielsen spoke on patriotic rather than political lines and P C Gerlson bore testimony to the efficacy of Democracy I C Thor eson of Cache county utarCed to talk in his native tongue as the others had done but he had not rehearsed his speech since the closing oC the late campaign and he was unable to recall it and translate It at tho same recal he switched onto English and the ca lamity effusion was delivered without further mishap Other working Democrats Demo-crats on the stand were J P Sorensen John Halversen CHarles Gulbransen and C A Carlqulat Politically the meeting was not a huge success Women Wo-men and children were largely predom inant and socially it was a decidedly successful picnic |
