Show BACON UNDER EXAMINATION Questioned in Bankruptcy Proceeding by Attorneys of Creditors as to His Assets and Business The examination of James H Bacon in bankruptcy occurred yesterday before be-fore Referee Baldwin at the first meeting meet-Ing of the creditors of Bacon About twenty creditors and half as many lawyers were present The debtor was put through a searching examination chiefly by Judge Loofbourow H J Dlnlnny and C W Morse although attorneys representing various other creditors took a hand occasionally and It was decidedly an unpleasant occasion occa-sion for the debtor The attorneys I went more or less on the assumption that Bacon had not turned over all his assets to the receiver who was appointed ap-pointed by the court after the removal of the assignee who took charge of the Bank of Salt Lake at the time It failed Bacon wns closely Interrogated as to whether he had received money from depositors after he knew the bank was Insolvent On this line very little was elicited beyond what appeared when Bacon was examined In former proceedings pro-ceedings The next line taken up was as to how much money was oh hand when the bank failed and what had become of It Bacon again gave about the same explanations as he had done before He was sharply and Incisively questioned ns to the cause of the failure fail-ure which he largely attributed to depreciation In the value of securities on which the InPtltutlon had advanced money and general bad trade His I transactions > with D G Tunnlcllffe Jeremiah Schenck and others were I probed anew The net result was nothIng noth-ing which Is likely to lead to the financial finan-cial advantage of the creditors At the conclusion of the examination the referee ref-eree appointed George Y Gibson trustee trus-tee under 5300 bonds |
