secretary Council of Womans Clubs The Council of Womens cubs held I its regUlar monthly meeting yesterday I afternoon and discussed several mat teis of Interest und importance f I First a report from Mrs Bnmbcrger telling of the progress of the free kindergartens kin-dergartens was given This was most encouraging and showed that the efforts ef-forts of the club women In this line were meeting with marked success I The attendance at the kindergarten Is large and the support by those interested inter-ested in the movement has been most generous There Is little doubt but what the kindergarten will be maintained I main-tained the onilre school year The nonobservance of the antlov poctoratlon law was next discussed and the council decided to appoint 0 committee to call upon tho Mayor and Chief of Police to see if a more strict observance of the law cannot be enforced en-forced Mrs W I Jones WIl9 named ia chairman of the committee and emPowered em-powered to choose the other members of the committee As the holidays arc drawing nell the question of Issuing the Consumers league circulars was considered most appropriate This was done In the early spring and the resulln were so satisfactory that it was deemed advisable ad-visable by the council to make another effort to aid the clerks in the large retail re-tail stores along the same line The cliculars will therefore be issued during the present week requesting all patrons of stores to do their Christmas shop I ping at as early n date as possible as early In the day as convenient and to not Insist on the delivery of purchases made after 5 oclock In the afternoon Mrs Georgia Snow Carleton has charge of this work The council then adjourned until the first Saturday In January Reapers Club At the meeting of the Reapers club on Monday afternoon Mrs Annie T Hyde read a paper on the Life and Works of Ralph Waldo Emerson A general discussion followed the presentation presen-tation of the paper The Cleofan The regular meeting of the Cleofan was held at the home of Mrs H L A Culmer on Tuesday the members of the club reading acts S and 4 1 of Hamlet Ham-let Mrs Edna Sloan gave critical comments on the play College Club The College club will meet with Miss Goddard 163 East First South Thursday Thurs-day December Gth at 4 oclock Poets Hound Table Mrs Stanley II Clawson entertained the members of the Poets Hound Table on Ladles literary club on Friday Mrs Coulter and Mrs Hlllliml of Ogden read papers tho presentation of which was followed by u delightfully Informal social hour during which time light refreshments were served A special meeting of the Ladles Literary Lite-rary club will be held tomorrow evening at S oclock in the clubroom Miss Mnrv Teasdel will rend a paper on Art and Mrs T G Webber will tell of her visit to the Paris exposition Both addressee will bo Illustrated by stercoptlcon views A special Invitation Invita-tion has been extended to the teachers of the public schools to attend this meeting
